Project Description

This research project aims to develop effective numerical modelling and simulation of fluid power systems containing distributed parameter components such as fluid transmission lines and breaking hammer tools.

The work includes mathematical modelling of distributed components using the Galerkin method, software development (including adaption of existing stiff ODE solvers), and experimental verification.

The project involves the Department of Mathematics and the Institute of Hydraulics and Automation of Tampere University of Technology. The project is funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board of the Academy of Finland and runs from May 1 1995 until December 31 1996.
